About the company:
Established in 2006, and located right here in Austin, we are a for-profit company with the mission of creating economic and social well being for marginalized producer communities, through responsible trade. With a full line of consumer products, and over 700 retail customers -- ranging from large, well-known chains, to local independently owned stores, both online and brick and mortar -- business is expanding, and we need to add a creative designer to our team.

About the role:
We work with artisan communities in India to develop modern, functional products for the American market. Product design department is responsible for creating product designs based on the market trend and producer capability. Design associate responsibilities will include:
- Research and understand product trend for our target market
- Create computer mockups/ product sketch based on given design concepts
- Assist in developing product lines every season
- Develop sample prototypes/ stitching as needed
This will be a part time position (2 to 3 days a week) with a strong potential of becoming full time. Some flexibility available in work schedule. We are looking for a smart and motivated individual to join us in this phase of growth & supporting our mission of providing sustainable alternatives to consumers and partner artisans. We have fun doing this!
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong grasp of design software like Photoshop, Illustrator etc.
- Hands on sewing and sketching skills preferable
- Experience in product design (handbags, jewelry, scarves and accessories)/ Degree in Fashion Design will be helpful.
- Appreciation of other cultures/ travel experience & team player spirit
- Sustainable & Eco-friendly outlook/ belief in responsibly made products
